What To Pack for Maldives 马尔代夫旅游

Our Maldives travel guide wouldn’t be complete without mentioning a few basics to bring with this fabulous holiday, so here are some essentials that we definitely need to prepare beforehand:

• Sunscreen (high spf) – it is available on resorts but can be expensive. and fren recommended Sun Plan - SPF 100, nice and cheap.
• Moisturising Lotion - Clarins is good. but for budget conscious, we might choose Banana boat instead.
• Insect Repellent – there can be mosquitoes just like Asian countries.
• Sunglasses & hats for shade from the sun
• Bathing suits and light cotton clothing – bikini bikini and bikini!!
• Credit Card & US dollars as pocket money
• Personal diving or snorkelling equipment (resorts will have these for free renting but if you prefer to bring your own, go for it!) Otherwise, you might need to return if each time after used.
• Lots and lots of snacks, cup noodles, best is Korean Spicy Noodles - Xing-la Mian, maggie mee, potato chips, dried meats, baqua - chicken, gardenia, pastry etc. As food can be expensive in the island and basically there'll be no convenient stores like 7-11 that you can possibly find in island trip like Redang, Phuket or Krabi.

Maldives - a true Paradise for Honeymooners

Kayaks for rent - is not cheap!

Blue sky, white sandy beaches and crystal clear water

Bangkok Restaurant 曼谷美食 [Nara THAI Cuisine @ Central World] - 泰式酸 辣汤

Nara Thai Cuisine is one of the award winning restaurants. This place is always packed with tourists and locals.

The food usually did not disappoint, the Tom Yum Khoong was fiery tasty, with a tangy spicy, and also the Pomelo Salad, has the right level of tangyness. It always a happy meal ever after. However the service needs to be improved as the staffs are often busy and not really helpful and friendly. Also, the price of food is quite pricy too if you compare to local street food which may serve the same quality but much lower price.

My favourite dishes,

Tom Yum Khoong with River Prawns

Fried Morning Glory (Kang Kong)

Nara Signature Appetizer

Bangkok Restaurant 曼谷美食 [After You Dessert Cafe @ Siam Square] - 一 定要式的甜品!

OA highly recommended dessert cafe that you must try if you are visiting Bangkok. The chain is getting more and more popular these days. There are many branches located at the tourist district. You may locate them easily from many bloggers or from their website. After You dessert cafe first opened in 2007. Currently there are more over 10 cafes around Bangkok town. The signature dessert and all time favourite is the Shibuya Honey Toast, the thick toast has a heavy buttery taste, alongside served with creamy whipped cream and a scoop of vanilla ice cream, best of all they provide a jug of maple syrup, you may spread plenty of it over the thick toast ;)

Their famous dishes here is the signature papaya salad.

Super delicious fried chicken wing topped with garlic.

Bangkok Hotel 曼谷酒店 [The Continent Bangkok by Compass Hospitality @ Sukhumvit area

The Continent hotel is probably one of the best location in Sukhumvit area. Location is perfect for both the business & leisure travellers. It is very central and very near the BTS Asok station & MRT Sukhumvit station, within 5-10 minutes of walking distance connecting with a sky bridge. The sky bridge also connecting to Terminal 21 makes it convenient for shopping and eating.

The breakfast buffet serves with loads of choice. The restaurant is located on a high floor which has a fantastic view in the morning. It also includes free soft drinks around the rooftop pool during the day, free snacks and free beers/cocktails in the evening. I really enjoyed the breakfast, and the refreshment areas are relaxing with great views!

Tips: Try to include breakfast, also book a room at upper floor it has great city view and to avoid noise from Soi Cowboy.

In Bangkok 在曼谷 [Bangkok Airport Link Suvarnabhumi Airport TrainTransfers To Bangkok City]

I often travel to Bangkok for business. Usually reliant on airport meter taxi that brings me directly from the airport to my hotel. Although the cost of travelling on Bangkok is generally low and affordable for many travellers. There's one thing that really bothers me is their unpredicted traffic on the road. So this will be my first review comparing an airport taxi to few selected locations/ hotels and vs. the airport express train in Bangkok.

Here are the key information that extracted from the official website:

The much-awaited Airport Rail Link (06:00-midnight) that connects downtown Bangkok with Suvarnabhumi International Airport is a smart alternative to the airport’s express buses or taxis. The City Line makes six stops between downtown (Phayathai Station) and the airport, completing each run in 30 minutes, making this a quick and convenient transport option for getting in and out of Bangkok.
The Airport Rail Link connects you to the MRT underground at Makkasan City Interchange Station (MRT Petchaburi Station) and the BTS Skytrain at Phayathai Station. Please note, the baggage check-in at Makkasan Station is no longer available.

From Bangkok International Airport (Suvarnabhumi), the entrance to the Airport Rail Link service is on the First Floor. Please bear in mind for those who travel with budget air, i.e. air asia. There is not direct airport express that connects to the Don Mueng airpor - the budget terminal.

The airport express train also use by many locals during the day time. The one way fare is seems cheap. The ticket that I bought was 45 Baht one way from the Phayathai station to the Suvarnabhum station. It takes a little walk from the BTS station to the airport rail link, just approx. 5-10 mins and covered with shelter. It is pretty safe and convenient on a rainy day.

BTS station connects to airport express link.

Going up to airport express train platform.

The current (based on September 2015) fare seems cheaper for single traveller compared to the one way taxi fare. I'm not sure if this is a promo fare or new revised ticket fare.

Tips:-   if you do not have heavy luggage or neither travel in a big group. It is a wiser choice to use airport express train to avoid bad traffic. Good thing is that there's an escalator service at the Phayathai station going up to the main platform. Which you do not need to carry your luggage up and walk up by stairs. But there's no escalators service for coming down. So just bear in mind and plan well which types of transportation that fits.
